This was always going to be a tricky one. Trying to decide what I deemed a worthy topic for this project was far more challenging than originally thought. I batted around the idea of a look into the Intellectual Dark Web over summer and was pretty set on that being the one, but the New York Times covered it quite thoroughly I might add, with stupendous access too, so I thought that was probably best left alone.
I was at a loss, I felt somewhat attached to trying to explore that, but also completely turned off by the fact that the NYT did it. What I eventually figured out was that I adored that type of idea, more than the idea itself. I didn't want my documentary to be about something that I would have to struggle to find a new angle on, I wanted it to be something that was a new angle in of itself. I wanted to explain something to a mass audience that I personally had found unbelievably fascinating, perplexing, and most importantly, revealing.
It took some time to narrow my focus on it, but i'm pleased it ended up being exactly what I wanted my documentary to be about: Political Tribalism.
So here we go: ONWARDS!
